Deliver to Seniors
Be a Delivery Day or Substitute Driver
One Saturday each month, we deliver food, Secret Pal gifts, personal care items, and household supplies to the senior citizens we support in the Senior Citizen Project. This is possible only with the wonderful drivers who contribute part of their weekend to the cause of feeding the needy. On delivery day, they pick up bags and boxes of food from our Carol Stream center and then deliver them. Many of the drivers have established warm relationships with the seniors on their routes and look forward to delivery day as a chance to visit with them. The seniors look forward to the company, too!
If you are interested in becoming a driver – or substituting when drivers are unavailable on delivery day, please send us an e-mail.
Bring a Monthly Meal to a Lonely Senior
For many of the seniors in the Senior Citizen Project, financial and health difficulties make preparing meals, or going out for one on a special occasion, an impossibility. If you can prepare or purchase a special meal and deliver it to a lonely senior, and visit with him or her briefly, it would mean so much. We offer this service monthly and, when possible, we like these meals to roughly coincide with holidays (Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, 4th of July, Friendship Day, Grandparent's Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas.) We give you the phone number of a requesting senior, and you contact him or her to arrange for delivery (it does not have to be on the holiday).
