Combining 27 years of having to borrow space, renting office and storage space for food and toy donations, and owning one smaller facility for our projects, we happily moved into our very own, 15,000-sq.-ft. building in Carol Stream in 2006 with land to triple our warehouse.
We were able to purchase this building from the combination of a DuPage County Community Development Block Grant for $421,000, the sale of our previous West Chicago property, and money donated to our building fund.
From thank-you letters and telephone calls we receive, we know that we are making a difference in the lives of those who struggle daily with the burden of poverty. We have already seen that our present building has helped us become more efficient, and it enables us to reach out to more of those who are sadly living in poverty.
We are still seeking donations for improvements to our building and future expansion of our warehouse. For $500, we invite people, clubs, or businesses to have their name and message engraved on a brick on our Service Sidewalk.
